Junior School Council
The VPS Junior School Council plays an important role at our school. Through the JSC, students are actively encouraged in decision-making, empowered to make change and provided with opportunities to demonstrate good leadership and citizenship skills.
Throughout the year, we plan, organise and manage fundraising events such as themed free-dress days, student talent quests and crazy hair days. In the past we have made substantial donations to various charities including Canteen (children and teenagers with Cancer), The Butterfly Foundation, Save the Dolphin Foundation and Helping the Homeless. Every year we take part in Wesley Mission ‘Food for Families’ appeal and organise collections of non-perishable food and toiletry donations. Our events are always widely supported by our school community and we are grateful for your support.
We also discuss issues concerning our students and ways of improving our school. We seek to resolve these issues through reporting and receiving feedback each class.
Every class at Viewbank PS has two nominated Junior School Council representatives. As a VBPS Junior School Councillor, students are encouraged to:
Show responsibility as role models in the school.
Show responsibility as a member of the community.
Discuss school issues that students have concerns about.
Report back issues & update information to their own class.
Be proud of their position.
